Tata Group chief N. Chandrasekaran announced at the 28th Annual General Meeting of TCS on Thursday that the company has taken action against those involved in the ‘recruitment scam’ after taking note of the whistleblower’s allegations. He has also made some important announcements so that such incidents do not happen again.

The focus will be on the honesty of the employees.

Tata Group chief N. Chandrasekaran said that the company will review its supplier management process in the coming days, as well as make it more stringent, so that such incidents can be stopped in future. Not only this, the company will now pay more attention to the honesty and ethics of its employees.

Chandrasekaran said, ‘The biggest expectation from an employee is his ethics and integrity more than any kind of financial performance. In such a situation, when even a single employee violates the rules of ethics, he feels pain. All the people sitting on the leaders position in the company should take this seriously and always take strict action on such incidents.

This is how the work of ‘job for bribe’ used to happen

On behalf of the company, it has been said that in February-March, complaints were received from whistleblowers about the involvement of TCS executives in the ‘job for bribe’ scam. The company has banned 6 employees and 6 firms after investigation. Apart from this, the complaint is also being investigated by an external investigator.

More than 6 lakh employees work in TCS and the company works with more than 1000 third-party recruit firms. The ‘recruitment scam’ issue came to light from a complaint about the practices of TCS’s RMG Global division. In his complaint, the whistleblower said that RMG Global Head E.S. Chakraborty took bribe from recruitment firms in lieu of job in the company. This scam has been going on for many years, and this scam is worth about 100 crores.

However, the Tata Group chief has clarified that the RMG division handles less than 2 to 3 percent of the company’s total hiring.
