NHAI is planning to increase the toll tax. From the present time, the government is collecting tax at the rate of Rs 2.19 per kilometer. New rates can be implemented after getting this approval from the Ministry of Road and Transport.
Toll Tax : Traveling on National Highway and Expressway can be very expensive. The new rates may be applicable from April 1. If media reports are to be believed then it may increase by 5-6 per cent. Its plan is currently being considered by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). According to the report, the government tax on light vehicles which includes cars may increase by up to 5 percent. At the same time, it can increase up to 10 percent on large vehicles.
New rates will be applicable from this day
According to the report, this proposal related to toll tax will be sent by NHAI from all project implementation units by March 25. On the other hand, after getting this approval from the Ministry of Road and Transport from April 1, the new rates can be implemented.
