Message traceability guidelines are being implemented by TRAI from next month, which are aimed at preventing spam messages. Many users are worried about whether OTP messages will be delivered late now.

Message traceability guidelines are being implemented by Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) from next month, which are aimed at preventing spam messages. In such a situation, many reports are coming out, which claim that due to this process of tracing messages, now one-time-password (OTP) messages will be delayed. Many users are worried about this and now TRAI itself has responded to this.

Many reports have claimed that the flow of OTP messages may be affected from December 1. This is because Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) is going to implement message traceability guidelines, which will be effective from next month. However, the regulatory body has completely denied such reports and said that the new traceability will not have any effect on OTP messages and users need not worry.

What are TRAI’s rules related to message traceability?

In the month of August, TRAI had instructed telecom operators to prevent misuse of messaging services and protect their consumers from scams and phishing. For this, Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel, Vodafone-Idea and BSNL have all been asked to trace the messages sent to users, so that spam messages and phishing attacks can be prevented. Initially, a deadline of October 31 was given for this, but now instructions have been given to implement the new guidelines from December 1.

Will it affect the messaging experience of users?

Some people linked the new rule of message traceability to the OTP delivery system. However, both are different things. TRAI has clarified that there will be no delay in the delivery of important messages like net banking and Aadhaar OTP. TRAI has assured that the purpose of the new rules is only to prevent spam messages and scams, and it will not cause any inconvenience or trouble for the common users.

Overall, you do not need to worry and your messaging experience will not be affected. The necessary changes for the new guidelines will have to be made by telecom companies and messaging firms and users do not have to do anything. Similarly, care will also be taken to ensure that they do not face any kind of trouble.
