From opening a bank account to taking advantage of any kind of government scheme, Aadhaar card is very important. That’s why it is necessary that the information given on the Aadhaar card should be completely correct. Any kind of mistake on Aadhaar card can become a problem for you.

Now guidelines have been implemented by the government regarding Aadhaar card. According to this, if your Aadhaar card was made ten years ago and it has not been updated, then now you need to get it updated. It has been said by the government that ‘If your Aadhaar was created ten years ago and it has not been updated, you are requested to upload your ‘Proof of Identity’ and ‘Proof of Address’ documents. Verify it again.’ Let us tell you, the fee for updating online is Rs 25 and for offline it is Rs 50.

How to update Aadhaar card?

For offline update, you have to visit your nearest Aadhaar center. According to UIDAI, you can easily get your demographic details (name, address, date of birth, gender, mobile and email) updated by paying a fee of Rs 50. You will have to pay Rs 100 for biometric update.

What is the process for online address update?

  • Go to the Aadhaar Self Service Update Portal and click on the option ‘Proceed to Update Address’.
  • Login using Aadhaar number, registered mobile number and OTP.
  • Click on ‘Proceed to update address’.
  • Enter the 12 digit Aadhaar number and click on ‘Send OTP’.
  • Enter OTP and login.
  • Enter the new address after selecting the option ‘Update New Address Proof’.
  • After this, select the documents to be submitted as address proof.
  • Upload the scanned copy of the address proof and click on ‘Submit’ button.
  • The Aadhaar update request will be accepted and a 14-digit Update Request Number will be generated.
