UMANG : India’s Master App For Government Services

UMANG (Unified Mobile Application for New-Age Governance) is launched as one of the key initiatives under the flagship program of Digital India to develop a common, unified platform and mobile app to facilitate a single point of access to all government services for the ease of Indian citizens.

One can access more than 200 government services such as passport services, income tax, e-Post, Women safety, land records and much more. Users can also share their certificates digitally or a document to various authorities through the app so there is no need of visiting the departments physically. This initiative of government is planned to make e-governance ‘mobile first’.

It is an evolving platform designed for Indian citizens to provide them access to pan-India e-Gov services from the Central, State, Local Bodies, and Agencies of government via app, web, SMS, and IVR communication channels. The app will be available in English as well as in regional languages for the ease of people from all the societies.

– Unified Platform: It brings all the government departments and their services together on a single platform to provide better and easier access to services for people.

– Mobile First Strategy: It aims to aligns all government services with the mobile first strategy to make the most of mobile adoption trends.



– Integration with Digital India Services: All the Digital India Services like Aadhaar, DigiLocker, and PayGov are integrated with the platform. Also, any new service which will be launched in the future will also be automatically integrated with the platform.

– Uniform Experience: It is designed in such a way that citizens are able to discover, download, access, and use all government services easily.

– Secure and Scalable: It enables citizens to easily access services like Aadhaar-based and other authentication mechanisms. The sensitive profile data is saved in an encrypted format and no one can view this information.
