Vivo’s New Innovation!
Vivo is always coming with creative ways to market its smartphones and attract users!
In a video spotted by Android Authority on Weibo, the smartphone’s rear glass changes colors on pressing a button.
The promo-concept video shows the phone’s color as sapphire blue at the start. It then changes to a silvery finish when a button seems to be pressed.
It can be seen that the camera of the prototype smartphone has been hidden during the entire video. However, it does seem to resemble Vivo’s recently launched X50 series.
How Does This Feature Work?
The new feature of color-changing back panels uses electrochromic technology.
According to a tipster, the electrochromic glass backplate changes colors according to the voltage with the help of a color-morphing material.
This technology has been showcased before by OnePlus to hide the rear cameras and will act as a filter when the lenses are not in use. It was also supposed to give an advantage in brighter environments where the exposure is too much by default.
Vivo has said it is working to incorporate this technology into its new smartphones, however, it remains unclear whether battery life and cost structure of the smartphone will get affected by this new technology.
