WhatsApp Voice Chat was first tested in beta, but is now being made available to everyone on Android and iOS.
WhatsApp voice chats
According to WABetaInfo, WhatsApp’s new group voice chat feature is now available. This feature comes with the latest version of the app on Play Store and App Store. However, it is still being rolled out slowly, so it may not be available to all users. Below is how you can check if voice chat is available on your phone…
– Open WhatsApp on your phone.
– Go to the group chat you want to voice chat with.
– Tap the wave icon right next to the group chat name.
– The voice chat interface will appear at the top of the group chat.
WhatsApp will show the number of people connected to a voice chat, so you can see who’s in the conversation even without joining. Voice chat will automatically stop after 60 minutes. When a new voice chat is created, WhatsApp also sends a silent notification to the group. This feature is only available for large groups with 33 to 128 members.
WhatsApp voice chat is similar to Twitter Spaces and Clubhouse, in that anyone can start an audio session and anyone can join in to listen or speak. However, WhatsApp voice chat is more inclusive because it takes place within a group chat. This can be helpful for users who want to join a group voice call, but don’t want to include everyone. The call gets disconnected if there is no activity for 60 minutes, so it’s easy to manage.
