DA expected to increase to 45 percent

According to the PTI report, AICPI-IW for June 2023 was released on July 31. Under this, the demand for an increase in 4 per cent dearness allowance is being made by the All India Railwaymen’s Federation. Federation General Secretary Shiv Gopal Mishra said that there is a possibility of increasing DA by three percent to 45 percent. Shiv Gopal Mishra further said that the Expenditure Department of the Finance Ministry will prepare a proposal to increase DA with its revenue and will put the proposal before the Union Cabinet for approval.

When will it be announced

It has not been informed in the report that when the increase in DA will be announced, but after the announcement of the government, the increase in DA or DR will be effective from 1 July 2023. At present, there are more than 1 crore central government employees and pensioners. They are being given DA or DR at the rate of 42 per cent of the existing pay or pension. The last increase in DA was done on 24 March 2023 and it is effective from 1 January 2023. During that time, the central government had increased the DA for all by 4 percent to 42 percent.

Why is DA given to employees?

The government gives DA to employees and pensioners to compensate for rising prices. As the cost of living increases over time, it is revised through the CPI-IW. The allowance is revised from time to time twice a year.
