CBSE Board Exam 2024 New Pattern: Changes have been made in the pattern of CBSE Board Exam for the year 2023-24. Now more multiple choice questions will come and short and long answers will get less weightage.
CBSE Board Exam 2024 New Pattern According to NEP 2020: Central Board of Secondary Education has changed the assessment scheme of class 10th and 12th. This change is for the next year’s examination i.e. academic year 2024 only. Under this, the number of multiple choice questions will be increased in the exam and less weightage will be given to long and short question answers. According to the PTI report, CBSE officials say that these changes have been made on the lines of the National Education Policy 2020.
Changes may be limited to this year only
This change in the CBSE Board 10th and 12th exam pattern and assessment scheme can be limited to this year only. After this the pattern can be redesigned according to the National Curriculum Framework (NCF).
Focus will be on competency based questions
The National Education Policy emphasizes that learning should be more focused so that the creative and critical thinking of the child can be nurtured. With this, children will be able to handle the challenges coming in the 21st century better. The changes being made in the exam pattern are to increase the competence of the children, hence the focus will be on competency-based questions.
Who will get how much weightage
Objective type questions will now be MCQs which will be given 20 percent weightage. The weightage of short and long answer type questions has been reduced from 40 percent to 30 percent. The pattern of questions will be such that source based integrated questions will come, case based questions will come. Overall, more questions will be asked to promote the critical thinking of the children.
And in class 12th, 40 percent questions will be competency based and will come in the form of MCQs. In the last session, 30 percent weightage was given to such questions. Compared to last year, when 50 percent weightage was given to long and short answer type questions, it will be reduced to 40 percent this year.
