Earlier, assembly elections were held in 2019, in which Sikkim Krantikari Morcha (SKM) president Tamang became the Chief Minister in May. CM Tamang’s party- SKM had got 17 seats, they formed the government with absolute majority. Another party SKF had got 15 seats.

On this occasion, the CM said that SKM has selected candidates for all 32 assembly seats, the party will release the list of candidates when the time comes.
