There is good news for the beneficiary members including pensioners. They will be given the benefit of higher pension. The application date for this has ended. However, for existing employees and EPS contributors, the date of application has been extended by EPFO till May 3.
EPFO Pensioners Higher Pension: There is big news for lakhs of pensioners of the country. They will be given the benefit of higher pension. Complete preparations were made by the government for this. New guidelines have been issued by the Employees Provident Fund Organisation. The last date for application for higher pension was fixed as March 3. Lakhs of employees will get the benefit of higher pension.
Will get the benefit of higher pension
Employees who were in service prior to 1st September 2014 and continued to be in service on or after 1st September 2014 but were unable to exercise the joint option under the Employees’ Pension Scheme. Now they were given the eligibility to apply before the deadline.
91258 retired employee applied
As per information provided by EPFO, around 91258 retired employees have applied for higher pension option under the revised Employees’ Provident Fund Organization provision. The last date for applying in the provision for them to get higher pension under the option given by the Supreme Court has ended on March 4.
EPFO gave information
Giving information, EPFO said that following the provision of the circular scheme on February 20, 2023, in compliance with the order of the Supreme Court, the beneficiaries will be given the benefit of higher pension. For this, the beneficiaries will be eligible to apply till March 4. After the date of March 4, EPFO informed that the option of retired IPS member has been closed till March 4, 2023 and during this period from September 9, 2014. Earlier and whose alternatives were not considered. The number of such category employees is 91258.
These members will be able to apply till May 3
However, EPFO has clarified that the option of taking higher pension by the existing employees is still open till May 3. Till May 3, existing employees and pensioners will be able to apply for eligibility for higher pension.
The facility to choose the option of higher pension was given on the orders of the SC.
Earlier a statement was issued by the Ministry of Labour. In which it was said that the option of applying for more pension for the retired EPS members has been closed on March 4. Whereas more than 91 thousand online applications have been received. Earlier, according to the Supreme Court’s decision of 4 November 2022, the subscribers associated with the EPFO Employees Pension Scheme are being given the facility to opt for higher pension.
Pension will increase
In November 2022, the Supreme Court upheld the Employees Pension Amendment Scheme 2014. Under this, in the EPS amendment of August 22, 2014, the pensionable salary limit has been increased from ₹ 6500 to ₹ 15000 per month. In addition, the members and employers have been allowed to contribute 8.33% of their actual salary towards EPS.

- Subscriber opts for combined option to get pension on or before 3rd May
- Enter Name Date of Birth Aadhaar Number along with Universal Account Number Mobile
- Number and Code linked to Aadhaar.
- An OTP will come on your phone

- Submit
- A number will be given along with the submission of the application form.
