The Central Government has collected a penalty of Rs 2,125 crore from people who delayed in linking PAN-Aadhaar even after the last date given by 30 June 2023. Of these, PAN-Aadhaar has been linked only after the government collected a penalty of Rs 1,000 from each PAN card holder. Till now, a total of 2.125 crore people have linked PAN-Aadhaar and the government has recovered Rs 2,125 crore from them.

In the winter session of Parliament, Rajya Sabha MP Phulo Devi Netam questioned the Finance Minister about the number of people linking PAN-Aadhaar and the number of deactivated PAN cards. In reply, Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary said that till June 30, 54,67,74,649 PAN cards have been linked to Aadhaar and no PAN card has been deactivated.

The government replied-

Phulo Devi asked the government how many people have linked PAN-Aadhaar by paying a penalty of Rs 1,000 and how much amount has the government recovered from them. Responding, the Minister of State for Finance said that from July 1, 2023 to November 30, 2023, 2.125 crore people have linked PAN-Aadhaar by paying a penalty of Rs 1,000 and the government has recovered Rs 2,125 crore through this.
