Step 1- First you go to the official website of Income Tax. Its portal address has changed and you need to login at https://eportal.incometax.gov.in.

Step 2- After login, go to e-file and go to Rectification from the drop down menu.

Step 3- Select the order which is to be rectified, for this Income Tax and the relevant assessment year has to be selected. Then click on Continue.

Step 4- Select the correct request type. Next, select the reason why you want to change the return. After that upload the required documents.

Step 5- After successful submission, a reference number will be generated and sent to Centralized Processing Centre, Bangalore for processing.
