The expenditure on this scheme will be fully borne by the Central Government. Earlier, to provide relief from inflation, the Central Government had announced to provide cheap LPG cylinders on the occasion of Rakhi and Onam.

The government had decided to reduce the prices of LPG cylinders by Rs 200 for common consumers. Apart from these Rs 200, Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana will continue to get a discount of additional Rs 200 per cylinder. In such a situation, the beneficiaries of this scheme will get a cylinder cheaper by Rs 400.
