A 2352 ton single span steel truss bridge will be launched on four lanes of the Rail Over Bridge (ROB) under construction at Chipiyana railway crossing this month.
NHAI officials claim that this is the heaviest single span truss bridge in the country to be placed on the ROB. This bridge came to the site in different parts and here its parts have been prepared by connecting them together. It is a 115 meter long truss bridge.
Along with the bridge, the work of preparing the launching pad around the rail line below has also started. By placing temporary girders, they will be connected to the span and then a railway line will be laid on them.
This bridge will be launched by sliding through the hydraulic system from the rail track through the wheels. NHAI Project Director Arvind Kumar said that Germany’s machine has been ordered to launch the truss bridge.
After the formation of ROB, Delhi-Meerut Expressway and NH-9 will become a total of 16 lanes. At present, four lanes were old, while the six lanes of the Meerut-Delhi road are being trafficked.
