Assam Board: A proposal has been presented by the Assam government to create a new board for the 10th and 12th examinations. In which a total of 21 members will be included.

Various efforts are being made by the education boards to improve the standard of education and completely stop cheating. In such a situation, now the news has come out from Assam. Where the government has proposed to form a new board by merging the state boards of class 10th and 12th for the management of secondary education.

On Wednesday, the Assam government introduced the Assam State School Education Board Bill 2024 in the Assembly to create a new board to control the education system up to class 12 in the state. According to which, a new board Assam State School Education Board (ASSEB) will be formed by merging the Secondary Education Board Assam (SEBA) and Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC).

There will be so many members in the new board

While presenting the proposal, it was said that it has been brought to regulate, monitor and develop secondary education in the state. ASSEB will be headed by a chairman nominated by the government. Under which the Vice President will take care of every division. Also, he will be appointed by the government. The new board will have 21 members. Whose tenure will be for 3 years. Which can later be extended for the same period.

Who conducts the examination at present?

State Education Minister Ranoj Pegu threw light on the bill and said that this proposal has been brought to regulate, supervise and develop school education in the state. The decision to merge was taken in the state cabinet meeting in November chaired by Chief Minister Himanta Bishwa Sharma.

At present, the Board of Secondary Education Assam (SEBA) conducts the Class 10 board examination in the state. At the same time, the 12th class examination is conducted by Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC).
