Actually, NHAI has told that on January 31, banks will deactivate those FASTags which have not completed KYC. NHAI has said that users will have to complete KYC for FASTags as per RBI guidelines. NHAI said that Fastags with incomplete KYC will be deactivated by banks after January 31, 2024. To prevent any inconvenience, NHAI stressed that users will be required to complete KYC for Fastag of their vehicle.

This is being done under the initiative of one vehicle one Fastag.

According to a PTI report, NHAI wants to increase the efficiency of the electronic toll collection system and provide seamless movement at toll plazas through one vehicle, one Fastag initiative. This initiative is designed to prevent misuse of the same FASTag for multiple vehicles.

According to NHAI, only the latest FASTag account will remain active as previous tags will be deactivated and blacklisted after January 31, 2024. Additionally, FASTag users are urged to follow the ‘one vehicle, one FASTag’ principle and get any FASTags already issued through their respective banks..

Do these things to complete KYC in FASTag

NHAI has said that FASTag users can visit the nearest toll plaza or contact the toll-free customer care number of their respective FASTag issuing banks. NHAI further said that this initiative has been taken following recent reports of multiple Fastags being issued for a particular vehicle.

Furthermore, NHAI also said that FASTags are sometimes deliberately not affixed on the windscreen of the vehicle, resulting in unnecessary delays at toll plazas as well as inconvenience to many users.
