Old Pension Scheme: About 17 lakh government and semi-government employees have decided to organize ‘Family March’ in every district and tehsil of the state on November 8, demanding the restoration of the Old Pension Scheme (OPS) in Maharashtra. March will be taken out to government offices.

He said on Monday that the employees participating in this march will go to the offices of District Collectors and Tehsildars with the slogans of ‘My Family, My Pension’ with their demands. The old pension scheme was discontinued in Maharashtra in 2005.

Employees will demand restoration of OPS

Katkar said, ‘We have decided to take out ‘Family March’ in all the districts and tehsils on November 8 and demand restoration of OPS. If there is no proper response during this period, we will go on an indefinite strike from December 14 demanding OPS.

The employees are angry with the state government for not fulfilling their demand for OPS. They are also demanding cancellation of indirect privatization of the education sector and filling of all vacant posts.

Refuting the claim of lakhs of employees joining the march,

Katkar said that around 17 lakh government and semi-government employees will join the march. Under OPS, a government employee gets the facility of pension equal to 50 percent of his last drawn salary.

Maratha community is already demanding reservation.

People of Maratha community in the state are already protesting demanding reservation. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Sunday said his government is committed to providing reservation to the Maratha community in jobs and education and urged the youth not to take steps like suicide.
