If you do not link it before March 31, then your Aadhaar will become inactive. From filing Income Tax Return (ITR) to large banking transactions, it is also necessary to link Aadhaar with PAN card.

PAN will be invalid

If you do not link it, then your PAN will be invalid under Section-139AA of the Income Tax Act. In such a situation, you will also not be able to file ITR online. In this your tax refund can be stopped. Apart from this, you will not be able to use PAN in any financial transaction.

1. First of all go to the Income Tax website.

2. Enter the name, PAN number and Aadhaar number as given in the Aadhar card.

3. Tick the square if only the year of birth is given in the Aadhar card.

4. Now enter the given captcha code.

5. Now click on the Link Aadhaar button.

6. Your PAN will be linked with Aadhaar.

PAN card will become useless if it is canceled 

After the cancellation of the PAN card, it can be made operative again. But keep in mind that if someone used a canceled PAN card in the meantime, then it would be considered a violation of section 272B under the Income Tax Act.

In such a situation, the PAN holder will have to pay a fine of Rs 10000. And not only this, if the canceled PAN card is used again somewhere, then the penalty can also be increased.
