The subscribers of PFRDA’s pension scheme are increasing. Its data has been given by the Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA). 

According to the information, by the end of February, if we look at the number of subscribers in the two major pension schemes of PFRDA on an annual basis, then after increasing by 22 percent, it is going to be more than 5.07 crores. These two pension schemes exist NPS and Atal Pension Yojana.

The number of passengers reached 507.23 lakh

If we look at the National Pension System (NPS), the number of subscribers in various schemes has increased to 507.23 lakh after the end of February 2022, from 414.70 lakh in February 2021.

It starts showing a growth of 22.31 per cent on an annual basis. According to PFRDA, the total assets (AUM) of both the schemes – NPS and Atal Pension Yojana (APY) have increased by 28.21 percent to Rs 7,17,467 crore.

About 5 percent increase in customer base

PFRDA has informed that looking at the NPS, the subscriber base has increased by about 5 percent annualized to 22.75 lakhs since the central government employees saw the end of February 2022. If we look at the scheme, the number of state government employees has increased to 55.44 lakh after increasing by 9.22 percent.

If we look at the corporate sector, the NPS subscription base has grown by 25 percent to 13.80 lakhs, while the scheme has grown by 37.70 percent to 21.33 lakhs in the all-citizen model.

According to the NPS Lite model, the number of employees with pension benefits reached 41.88 lakh by the end of February 2022. No new registration is allowed in this category with effect from 1st April, 2015. NPS Lite was introduced on April 1, 2010, keeping in mind the people belonging to the economically weaker sections.

PFRDA data shows that APY has seen a jump of over 29 per cent in subscriptions to 3.52 crores by the end of February. NPS and APY are two pension schemes run by PFRDA.
