Bonus For Railway Employees: Today the government has given a big news to the railway employees. In the meeting of the Union Cabinet led by PM Narendra Modi, 78 days bonus has been approved for railway employees. This will benefit about 11 lakh employees.
About 11.56 lakh non-gazetted employees will benefit from this decision of the government. Let us inform that before the festive season, the government has been announcing bonus for lakhs of railway employees. Its objective is to motivate the employees to work towards improving the performance of Railways.
These employees will benefit
This bonus linked to the productivity of the Railways covers all non-gazetted railway employees. This does not include the employees of RPF and RPSF. Usually, this bonus is paid to railway employees before Dussehra. Due to the bonus payment of 78 days to railway employees, there will be a burden of about 2000 crores on the exchequer.

In 2021 also, the Union Cabinet had approved Productivity Linked Bonus (PLB) equivalent to 78 days’ salary for the financial year 2020-21 for non-gazetted railway employees (except RPF/RPSF personnel) eligible for bonus.

This Productivity Linked Bonus covers all non-gazetted railway employees of Railways except RPF/RPSF personnel. About Rs 1,985 crore was spent on productivity linked bonus last year. Bonus is usually announced before Dussehra and Puja festival. The prescribed salary limit for payment of PLB to eligible non-gazetted railway employees is Rs.7,000 per month. The maximum amount payable to railway employee as bonus is Rs 17,951 for 78 days.
