Winter vacations will start from January 1, 2024 and end on January 6. Earlier the winter holidays for the year 2023-24 were to be from January 1 to January 15 but now they have been reduced.
School Winter Vacation 2023: There is relief news for the school students of Delhi. Before the New Year, Delhi Government has announced winter holidays, however, this time the Delhi Education Directorate has reduced the winter holidays. This time there will be only 6 days holiday in Delhi schools instead of 15 days.
As per the orders of the state government, this time the winter holidays in Delhi will start from January 1, 2024 and will end on January 6. Earlier the winter holidays for the year 2023-24 were to be from January 1 to January 15 but now they have been reduced. Now schools will remain closed from January 1 to January 6 only and will be opened again from December 7. The Directorate of Education has asked the heads of the schools to send this information to the teachers as well as the students and their parents.
What is written in the circular
It is written in the circular that the winter vacation for the academic session 2023-24 was to be from January 1 to January 15. However, to ensure that our students are not adversely affected due to poor air quality index in Delhi, a part of the winter vacation was observed from 9th November to 18th November and the remaining part of winter vacation for the academic session 2023-2024 It is scheduled to be celebrated from January 1 to January 6, 2024. Heads of all schools in Delhi are directed to disseminate this information through various mediums to all stakeholders including teaching/non-teaching staff, students and their families.
Winter holiday declared in Jammu from December 11
- Jammu administration has issued orders for winter vacation for schools, under this, winter vacation for students up to class 8 has started from November 28, while winter vacation for students from class 9 to 12 will start from December 11. .
- This leave term for all students will end on 29th February 2024.
- All government and recognized private schools of Kashmir division will observe winter vacation for about three months.
- Teachers will have to return to their respective schools on February 21 due to arrangements for the upcoming examinations. Due to continuous holidays, teachers will now teach students online from home.

- Christmas Eve – Sunday 24th December 2023
- Christmas – Monday 25th December 2023
- New Year’s Eve – Sunday 31 December 2023
- Second and fourth Saturday (depending on different states)

- In many places, a large number of schools and offices remain closed even on January 01, 2024, in such a situation, a short vacation can be planned due to the arrival of 3 consecutive holidays from December 30 to January 01, 2024.
