Nitin Gadkari was replying in the Lok Sabha on the Demands for Grants for the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, 2022-23, on Tuesday. Emphasizing on the need to move to effective indigenous fuel, Gadkari expressed hope that electric fuel will soon become a reality. This will reduce the level of pollution.

urge to adopt hydrogen technology

Gadkari urged the MPs to adopt hydrogen technology. He asked the MPs to take initiative to convert sewage water into green hydrogen in their respective areas. He also told that hydrogen will soon be the cheapest fuel option.

Price will be equal to petrol vehicles

Gadkari said, ‘The price of lithium-ion batteries is coming down rapidly. We are developing zinc-ion, aluminum-ion, sodium-ion batteries. In a maximum of two years, the cost of electric scooter, car, auto rickshaw will be equal to that of petrol-powered scooter, car, auto rickshaw.

100 on petrol and Rs 10 on EV

He told that the benefit of this will be that if you are spending 100 rupees on petrol today, then this cost in running an electric vehicle will come down to 10 rupees. A few days back Nitin Gadkari had launched the Green Hydrogen Fuel Car.

Petrol costs Rs 5-7

Running on a green hydrogen-powered car will cost less than Re 1 per km. While the cost of a car running on petrol comes to Rs 5-7 per km. Toyota Kirloskar Motor’s FCEV Toyota Mirai car is included in this pilot project.

Farrata will be filled in less than 1 rupee KM

Let us tell you that the newly launched car will be filled with hydrogen in 5 minutes. After this it will be able to travel up to 550 km. The Transport Minister said that now in 6 to 7 dollars (about Rs 500), the car will run from 1 kg of hydrogen to 550 km. For traveling up to 550 rupees in 500 rupees, the cost of one kilometer will be about 90 paise.
