UP SIR Draft Voter List 2026 Released: 2.89 Crore Names Deleted; Check Your Status Online Now

Uttar Pradesh is about to see a massive digital “cleanup” of its democracy. As of Tuesday, January 6, 2026, the Election Commission of India (ECI) is finally dropping the draft electoral roll for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR).

The thing is, this has been delayed three times already. But today is the day. We’re talking about nearly 3 crore names (specifically around 2.89 crore) being wiped off the books. That’s about 18.7% of the state’s total voters. Or nothing. Let’s be real, when nearly one-fifth of the electorate vanishes in one go, people are going to notice. Those too.

The “UP SIR Draft” Log: Field Notes

It’s an ongoing situation where the “Legacy Data” errors from the last 20 years are finally being purged.

  • The Deletion King: UP is leading the country in deletions, with Tamil Nadu (15%) and Gujarat (14.5%) trailing behind.

  • Why the Purge? It’s mostly “ASD” voters—Absent, Shifted, or Deceased. But also, they’re cleaning up duplicate registrations that have sat there since the 2002-2004 revision.

  • The “Women” Concern: Historians might look back at this as a weirdly massive reversal in women’s voting participation. Initial data suggests women’s names are being hit hard by these deletions.

  • The Political Row: Akhilesh Yadav is already sounding the alarm, telling workers to watch the BLOs (Booth Level Officers) like hawks. He’s worried this purge might lean a certain way.

And Here’s the Kicker…

If your name is gone, you aren’t “deleted” forever—yet. The window for Claims and Objections opens today, January 6, and runs until February 6, 2026.

The thing is, if you’re “unmapped” (meaning they couldn’t find your house or you didn’t return the form), you’ve got to act fast. You’ll need Form 6 to get back on or Form 7 to object to someone else. CEO Navdeep Rinwa has been clear: if you’re missing, you’ll need proof you were on the 2003 SIR list or a valid birth certificate/passport to get back in. It’s a messy process, but with the 2026 elections looming, this is the most important list in the state right now.
