Compensation can be deducted from salary
For this notification has been issued by the Haryana Government. At the same time, the compensation for a prisoner who dies by suicide has been increased from Rs 5 lakh to Rs 7.5 lakh. Notification for this was issued in May. In which it was said that at least 50% of the compensation paid by the jail staff in case of beating can be deducted from the salary of the guilty officer and employee. The exact percentage of deduction and the proportion to be applied to the offender personal officers, officers will be decided by the Director General of Prisons.
Not only this, in case of death of prisoners due to inmates’ mutual quarrels, beatings by jail staff, negligence of duty by jail officials and negligence of medical paramedical officers, compensation is paid to the next of kin or legal heirs of the prisoners. Magisterial inquiry required
Not only this, the concerned jail superintendent will also have to send a copy of the magisterial inquest report, post mortem examination report, final cause of death, medical history and details of medical treatment at the time of admission to the jail. Before the death in custody, the report will be given to DG Prisons Haryana. After this, DJ Jail will send it to the State Government for grant of appropriate compensation.
