BMW India Record Sales 2025: 18,001 Units Sold as iX1 Leads 200% EV Growth

BMW has officially turned the “Sheer Driving Pleasure” slogan into “Sheer Sales Momentum.” As of Friday, January 9, 2026, the luxury carmaker is celebrating its best year on record in India, moving a staggering 18,001 cars in 2025.

The thing is, they aren’t just selling more cars; they are fundamentally changing what wealthy Indians want to drive. Or nothing. Let’s be real, the fact that one in every five BMWs sold is now fully electric says a lot about where the market is going. Those too.

The “BMW Record” Log: Field Notes

It’s an ongoing situation where BMW is breathing down the neck of Mercedes-Benz for that #1 spot, growing at 14% while the rest of the industry is chugging along at half that speed.

  • The EV Explosion: They sold 3,753 electric vehicles last year. That’s a 200% jump. The iX1 is the undisputed king here—it’s not just BMW’s best-selling EV, it’s the best-selling premium EV in the country.

  • The “Limo” Craze: Indians love their legroom. Sales of Long Wheelbase (LWB) models grew by a massive 162%. These stretched-out sedans now make up half of all BMW sales.

  • The SUV Dominance: They call them “SAVs” (Sports Activity Vehicles), and they moved 10,748 of them. The X1 and X5 remain the bread and butter for the suburban elite.

  • The Motorrad Vibe: Even the bikers are busy. BMW Motorrad delivered 5,841 motorcycles, with the made-in-India G 310 RR leading the pack.

And Here’s the Kicker…

CEO Hardeep Singh Brar isn’t slowing down. The thing is, BMW plans to launch 27 new products in 2026, including 10 all-new models. They are also investing ₹4 billion to build a “high-performance electric corridor” of fast chargers across Indian highways.

But watch out for the price tags—thanks to the Rupee taking a hit against the Euro, Brar hinted at a 2-3% price hike coming very soon. It’s an ongoing situation where the “aspirational” price entry for luxury is moving from ₹45 lakh toward the ₹55 lakh mark. If you’ve been eyeing that 3 Series, you might want to pull the trigger before the Feb 1 budget.
