RBI’s Sovereign Gold Bond is going to be released in a few days. According to the notification issued by the Finance Ministry, there will be an opportunity to invest in the first installment of the Gold Bond Scheme from December 18 to December 22. Whereas the second installment will be released on 12th February, investment opportunity will be available till 16th February.
About Gold Bond Scheme
For your information, let us tell you that the last tranche of the bond was released on September 11, the last date for investing in it was September 15. The bond was launched in November 2015. Through this scheme people can buy gold at a lower price from the market.
There is a discount of Rs 50 per gram on online subscription and payment in digital mode. The price of gold is determined on the basis of the average price of gold price of the last three days of India Bulletin and Jewelers Association.
How much return do you get?
The gold bond scheme matures in 8 years. However, there is also a facility to withdraw it after five years. During this period, interest is also received every year. Interest is paid on half yearly basis. 2.50% interest is being given annually on this.
Gold buying limit
A person can buy 1 gram to 4 grams of gold in a year. Whereas trusts and institutions are allowed to buy 20 kg of gold. Investors can buy gold through NSE, BSE, Stock Holding Corporation of India, Post Office, Stock Exchange and commercial banks.
