The Modi government may consider increasing the minimum wage for employees in view of the upcoming elections. In the event of this happening, a bumper increase in the salary of the employees will be seen. His basic salary will see an increase of up to ₹8000.

Consider increasing the fitment factor

According to media reports, the Modi government at the Center may consider increasing the fitment factor in 2023. If this happens, the basic salary of the employees will increase from Rs 18,000 to Rs 26,000. It can be implemented from 2026. At present it has not been officially confirmed.

At present, fitment factor is being paid to the central employees at the rate of 2.57 per cent. Their salaries are being fixed on this basis. The same employees union has been demanding an increase in the fitment factor for a long time. There is a possibility that in view of the upcoming elections, the Modi government may decide to increase the fitment factor this year.

Preparation to increase the fitment factor from 2.57 to 3.68

Actually, there is no important discussion about the 8th Pay Commission at the moment. Along with the Seventh Pay Commission, the Pay Commission can be continued by giving effect to the new rule. In such a situation, preparations can be made by the government to increase the fitment factor from 2.57 to 3.68.

The demand of the employees is that their fitment factor should be increased to 3.6% whereas according to the view of the government it can be done up to 3 times. Its decision can be taken by the end of 2023. At the same time, it is being considered to be implemented from 2026.

Two sides ready

Two sides are ready regarding the fitment factor. The first side says that the fitment factor should be increased from 2.57 times to 3 times. If this happens then the basic salary will increase by about ₹ 3000. The other side says that the fitment factor should be increased to 3.68 times as recommended by the Seventh Pay Commission. This will see an increase in their salary up to Rs 8000.

Increase in fitment factor

The formula of fitment factor is adopted to see the basic salary. As per the recommendation of the 6th Pay Commission the fitment factor was 1.86 but with the implementation of the 7th Pay Commission the fitment factor was increased to 2.57 times. Now, before the implementation of the 8th Pay Commission, preparations are being made to increase the fitment factor once again.

Salary will increase so much

  • Under present Pay Band 5200 to 20200, Grade Pay Rs 1800, Entry Pay Rs 7000, Level 1 with Fitment Factor 2.57, their basic pay is fixed at Rs 18000.
  • In case of pay band 5200 to 20200, grade pay Rs 1800, entry pay Rs 7000, level 1 with fitment factor 3.68, their basic salary will increase to Rs 26000.

Pay on Grade Pay 2000

Under present Pay Band 5200 to 20200, Grade Pay Rs 2000, Entry Pay Rs 8460, Level 3 with Fitment Factor 2.57, their basic salary is fixed at Rs 21700.

Pay after increase of fitment factor on Grade Pay 2000

Under present Pay Band 5200 to 20200 with Grade Pay Rs 2000, Entry Pay Rs 8460, Level 1 with Fitment Factor 3.68, their Basic Salary is fixed at Rs 31133.
